I have one in what started as a 117 model. I originally bought a 333 but the
L2 cache somehow died and due to delays at Sonnet they replaced it with a
466. I have never run into any conflicts - I also use a PC card modem and an
internal ethernet card. One advantage to the new card is the 1MB cache vs
the 512k cache on the 333. It's fast, but remember that it's not a true 466.
Since the G3 can only go to 10x bus speed, it's theoretically limited to 333
on the 1400. That said, Sonnet uses what they call bus-doubling to get the
speed. So the Metronome application reports that the bus on the card is
running at 66mhz, and the system bus is 33mhz. Apple System Profiler reports
that the card is running at 233 - Sonnet's answer to that is ASP doesn't
correctly read their products.
FWIW, I have a Wallstreet 233/512 that is very nearly as fast as the 1400.
For opening documents in either Word or Excel, the WS takes only about 1
second longer.
