I take it this means you haven't even launched the software. Hold down the space bar when you boot up and Extension manager will come up. Use it to turn off the PaperPort software. Once you've started up you could try putting a space or underline in front of the name of the PaperPort software to make it show up first or last in the boot process. Changing the boot order is about the only thing you can do with something like this (if now more up to date version is available).
