I don't know how far it can be upgraded, but "upgraded" and "useful" don't 
need to be necessarily the same thing. A PB 180 I had just got a new 
home... sure, it wasn't running "modern" software or the like, but 
Clarisworks, System 7.1 or 7.5 (don't recall at the moment) and basic 
utilities make it a good quick note-taker, report-writer, etc.

It was useful, and fast enough for that. *shrug*
