Greetings!
Thanks so much to those who unselfishly freely helped me out
with my missing files problem! Let no say that Mac people don't stick
together!
I am having difficulty file sharing my 6320 with my PB 190
and I know the solution is agonizingly close!
From my PB 190 I can execute the whole log-in sequence to my
6320; the PB 190's shared disk icon appears on my 6320's desktop.
Runs perfect! However if I try to accomplish the reverse file share
after I do the usual moves of checking the AppleShare icon in the
6320's Chooser and checking the 190 server name and opening the panel
stating "Connect to the file server PB 190 as" and clicking OK (just
like I normally do on the 190 log-on), a new other screen pops up
stating "The attempted connection to the server has failed. Try again
later."
And that's all I've been doing! I've been tearing my hair out
between changing machine owner names to switching TCP AppleTalk to
make this work. For now I can only backup my 6320 one-way on my PB
190 via balky crash-prone Powerbook File Assistant and OS 9.0's File
Synchronizer transplanted in my PB 190 (though supposedly File
Synchronizer from OS 9.2 has been fixed. Ideally, with a two-way File
Sharing connection I could use CopyAgent in network mode for the
perfect back-up system.
Does anyone have a clue or suggestion? Could it have to do
with using 8.5 file sharing files on a 8.1 machine (PB 190) and my
6320's running 9.1 so there's some two-way file sharing
incompatibility there?
