Ok, I ran some tests in MacBench 5. The results are on my website: <http://homepage.mac.com/alk/projects/5300/5300oc.html>
Any speed differences between the overclocked CS motherboard and the standard CE motherboard are probably coincidental. As you can tell, the specs are almost exactly what you would expect and are very similar to the performance of a PowerBook 1400/117. ;-) Next up: changing the bus speed.... Soon as I get around to ordering the parts from Digi-Key Mad Dog: The VRAM chip on my 5300cs says: TI -70 TMS55165DGH HD 58A72AC P At least, that's what's printed on the IC that I think is the 512K of VRAM. It's at position U10 on the bottom of the mobo... Any idea where the MMU is on this machine? These 603e's didn't have integrated memory controllers, did they? There's a monster TI chip under the 603e - that's not a 3rd party MMU, is it? The Whitney (U12) chip controls IDE, right? That ITT (U6) chip does the ATA/IDE expansion (media bay) I think... The T-Rex (U24) IC should be the PCMCIA controller.... And I don't know what the rest of the stuff does... Can't find the "singer" chip (which controls audio)... It's interesting seeing an AMD IC on that board (U20). I wonder what that does?
