The 3com 589D 10bt $8 from www.computer-show.com.

Someone on another mailing list griped about an order issue last week
but I've ordered stuff from them for about a year and it's always
been great, web or phone.

There are patches available for the 3com 589D and the mac; you have
to load the Farallon card drivers plus the patched driver (the
Farallon card which was made for the Mac is just a rebadged 589 C/D
series). One list member here put them on a web page, I think.
Search the archive for 3COM about 2 months ago or more.

I don't have a 3400 but this 3com card worked great in a 1400 OS 9.1
and a 5300 OS 8.1 for me. Only caveat, the Mac crashes HARD if
Farallon drivers (regardless of the 3COM patch) if my Global Village
combo card drivers are also present at boot.

You can get the same card with native Mac drivers and a big endian
(well big anyway) dongle for $30 or so if you buy a "Farallon Mac
PCMCIA card", for a lot more money.
