Ken, FYI about older AV macs:

NuBus AV class macs can't simulscan. That is, when outputting video,
it's either output through the AV-out _OR_ through the regular
monitor. One or the other, but not both at the same time. Of course,
if you use a dual-monitor setup using the on-board video, that might
not be a problem for you...

The Power Mac 8500 is the same way.

I don't know about the 7500/7600, but I'd guess they behave the same
as the 8500 (their more expensive sibling). (Actually, I seem to
recall that the 75/600 series don't have video-out at all, but I could
be wrong).

Pretty sure the Performa (5xxx/6xxx) line doesn't have video-out
either.

OTOH, the 8600 and Power Mac G3/AV can simulscan.

Just in case you were still thinking about getting an AV Mac...

I've got two - a 6100AV and a G3 MT/AV. I LOVE the video
functionality of both, and the G3's RCA audio-out is pretty useful in
a mid-range Hi-Fi system for digital audio playback.

Peace,
Drew
