toast 5.2 works on my OS 9.1 1400 (G3) , which is also not SCSI manager 4.3
compliant BUT:
-1x only since the bus speed on these powerbooks is so slow (and is
independant of clock speed)
-the progress indicator does not work- so not only does 650 megs take 74
min to burn, you don't have a progress indicator during this time, so as
far as you know it's locked up :)
but for emergencies it's not bad. Plus, external SCSI Cd-R drive should
work as a Apple drive for just reading CDs if you get FWB CD-ROM toolkit
(and a drive they support), and is a lot sturdier than packing around the
fragile internal Apple CD-ROM drives.
FWB does also give you a free copy of FWB CD toolkit, and support your
drive, if you send them an unsupported drive model for them to work with.
But SCSI CD-R on these older laptops is not convenient to use, at best,
unworkable often.
