The archives are at www.mail-archive.com, see the sig on each post here for the exact URL. The next to last line of the sig :) It was about 6 months ago not 4, as I found when I searched for "Focus" The link for the Focus instructions posted by Bruce, is: <http://www.mail-archive.com/powerbooks@;mail.maclaunch.com/msg02641.html> And the full text follows, cut-n-pasted from 2 posts. HTH. Thanks Bruce. Lean it against the screen. 3)Carefully pull/tilt the front palmrest and trackpad up and toward you a bit to disengage the catches in the front thencarefully pull it up and lean it against the keyboard. Or you can do what I did: struggle with it a bit, have it pop loose suddenly and come comletely loose. If this happens, verify that you didn't tear the trackpad cable...:-( 4)Undo the three silver screws holding the heatsink/harddrive casing down. They are along the front of the PB. 5) Carefully lift the HDD cage assembly and flip it over to the left. You may want to carefully pull the HDD cable loose, just to get some working room. It onbly goes one way, but be careful to handle the connector only by the plastic edge, NOT the cable. 6) Lift the power regulator board(?) up and to the right. This has a white plastic cover on it, and it connects via a press in connector towards the screen side under neath what you see. It is also attached to the PRAM battery on the right hand side. 7)Now lift the metal heatsink up and away. 8)At last, you can see the video card. There is a screw through the back of the PB (in the rear connector panel) and a screw on the lower right hand side of the video card. It is, as Malcom said, obvious at this point. That lower screw is screwed into a white nylon spacer under neath the video card, so the screw will not come entirely loose. With both wcrews out, carefully raise the near end to disconnect from the MB and slide the video card straight toward you until it clears the rather closely attached video cable across the top of it. 9) Carefully slide the Focus card into the place, again being careful of the video cable and push id on to connect. -------------------------- DOH! 9.5) Re-insert the screws holding the video card into place, making sure to use the white nylon spacer. running the screw partway through the spacer will hold it in place for this operation. -------------------------- 10) Replace the heat sink. 11) Replace the Power regulator 12) Replace the HDD cage. Remember to plug it back in! 13) Replace the trackpad/palm rest assembly. It is a bit finicky getting it back together. Use more patience than force. Remember to plug the cable back in! 14) Put the keyboard back on, and reattach the screws in the bottom of the back. All done. Just press the power key and...panic, because nothing happens! Remember to press the little rest button on the back and it starts up. Breathe huge sigh of relief. -- -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
