My PowerBook 180 (B&W active matrix screen) does odd things with its backlight. When I boot it, the backlight starts off at full strength, then dims, then shuts itself off completely before the little cartoon Mac screen appears. (It's running 7.5.5.) I believe it must be a software command, as when I use the BatteryAmnesia conditioning program (yes, I paid the shareware fee!) the backlight turns on properly as part of the discharging-the-battery quickly part of the software. While the PB 180 is surprisingly useable without the backlight--and gives great battery life--I'd sure like the option of having the backlight on when I want it to be! Any suggestions?
