9.2 isn't an option without subterfuge.

In my case, when my 1400 was a lowly 117, I ran 8.1 + CarbonLib on it and it
booted fast and ran fast (for a 117).

When I upgraded to a G3/333, I went straight to 9.1. (60MB RAM also helped.)
