I am a second owner of a 333 Lombard with the original 64mb memory. A friend
gave me an additional 64b memory that he had for his powerbook - but couldn't
use because he stripped the screws inside. I put his memory chip in my
Lombard (system profiler recognizes it) but it seemed to cause it to freeze
up more often.
So I went out to the store and bought a new 256mb 144 - Pin SODIMM 133mhz
SDRAM since Ram is so cheap right now.
When I installed it,
1- I'm connected to a network via ethernet, and it would have apple share
error and
not start up. (and all the type in the error message would be broken
up)
2- Then when I disconnected the ethernet cable, it took longer to go through
the
startup (extension icons) and would hesitate during the first few
extensions
(apple share then ati grahics accelerator) it then would get to the
desktop and
just spin away. The text in the top (file menu, date etc would be all
broken). So
I never got to the point to be able to check the system profiler about
the memory.
3 - I zapped the pram with no change
So I'm back to the original configuration - I took out the 256 and have just
the original 64 in.
Any suggestions why this is happening. I think that this is the right chip,
I checked with a mac tech before buying it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
in advance for your replies.
Linda
