At first I thought that this might be the case too, but Energy Saver 
is fairly intelligent and can tell the difference between desktops 
and laptops - the server options are only available on desktops, just 
as the battery options are only available on PowerBooks.

Jim, have you tried resetting your power manager and/or zapping the 
PRAM?  That usually clears up strange power management issues... 
Instead of just pushing in the reset button, hold it down for a few 
seconds (while your 3400 is shut down, of course).
