If you've got USB, I could recommend the Epson Stylus Scan 2000, which is a compact little 3-in-1 that produces decent results. Not a flatbed scanner, if that's important to you; though I liked the sheet-feed type of scanning/copying system it has. As a printer, IIRC it's the same mechanism as the Epson 740, which is fine for everyday use. Its minimum specs are OS 8.1 and any USB-equipped Mac, so you should be okay. I also see that OS X drivers have been released for it, so you might be able to use with other Macs in the future too.
