Diane,

Sorry, but a Duo Dock only works with a PowerBook Duo. They have a
special "docking port" (a glorified processor direct slot depending
on who you talk to) that plugs into a slot on the inside of the Duo
Dock.

Anyone know if there is a Bookendz for the 5x0 series? A company
used to make a series of products called "BookEndz" (or something
like that) into which you can slide your PowerBook - it serves as a
dock of sorts so you don't have to keep pluggin in that ethernet
cable or power cord every time you put your book on the desk. You
just slide it into the dock. If you are looking for some sort of
docking solution for your 540c, you might consider this. Mind you,
it won't be as powerful or as capable as the Duo Dock.

Peace,
Drew
