>What is the max memory for this unit, >and whom has the best price. 64 megs is max; depending on what is on your MB already you will easily max at either 60 or 64.
You can spend rather a lot of money and get one 48-meg module; ebay from $100 to $150 or sometiems less if you are lucky. See (long URL): >A quick Sherlock search for "Powerbook+Ram" gave me the link: <http://www.polarismemory.com/asp/computer-memory-options.asp?TypeNum=2&MakeNum= 8&Make=APPLE&OemModel=PowerBook+1400&B1=Search> >with a 48 meg Module for #139.95. which was posted here recently. Or you can get 2x24 meg or 16+32meg module kits from a few sources (www.datamem.com has the 16/32 kit #DM78 004). OtherWorld Computing (www.macsales.com) has a pretty decent price on a 32 meg single module, $65 new (I had to poke around a little bit to find it, try their memory picker wizard I don't think it's a listed product on their main memory page). You should get the combos as guaranteed matched sets; if you mix and match they often don't work. If you populate both RAM slots (almost a certainty if you are being price conscious) you can't use the NewerTek 16 bit video cards, only the Apple 8 bit video out. Sometimes you can see that someone got a good deal if you search completed auctions on ebay but it might take a while; somehow, some frequent sellers always seem to have lots of competitive bidding...
