I just got my first 190 (a CS with 16/500/no AC - for free!) and was
wondering what's required to turn it into a 5300? My usually trustworthy
instincts tell me to not bother, but my heart tells me to investigate
further. As I still don't know if this 190 is even alive (no PS with
which to reset the PM), I'm of course as usual getting ahead of myself.

My recollection of the couple of 5300s I no longer have was that the LB
and power board are the only significant differences. I don't see
anything else obvious in the SS manual takeapart but haven't yet done an
exhaustive cross-reference search of the parts data-base.

So, to go direct to the well (youze guyz 'n' gals) rather than dig my
own, should I bother? And if so, what do I _need_, and what _should_ I
get to make it usable? Will the 8MB ram module I found inside work with a
5300 LB? LOL, like it matters! I'd be sure to buy a bigger module anyway.
<G>

No, I don't _need_another_PB_, PPC or 68K, but I just can't resist.

TIA,

Dan K (now with PBs from 100 to 3400, but no 5300)
