As you may recall from previous threads about this issue, some PowerBook 3400c units 
are Cardbus-capable, and some are not. The article you referred to above did mention 
specific cards, including the MacAlly, and had minor updates in 2001 and 2002.

I have the MacAlly card.  It works with my 3400c's without the "MCE enablement."
