Dpending on your SCSI cable length, the importance of termination is
greater or lesser. But, the last device and first device in a SCSI
chain should be "terminated" If the Zip drive is the only external SCSI
device be sure to set its termination switch ON.

The cable connector that plugs into the 180 must have only 29 pins (one
corner pin missing).

The Zip drive must NOT be a parallel port drive intended for the PC.

If you don't have the Iomega extension installed you will need an app
called Iomega Guest. You can get it here:
http://www.rapidnet.com/~gmc/Iomega%20Guest.sea.hqx
The icon for this app looks like an extension icon but it is NOT. you
simply double click this app's icon like any other app. It does NOT go
in the extension folder.

System 7.5x is a free download from Apple. It should have any modem
software you need I think.

eBay sometimes has NEW batteries for that machine. I bought one and it
works great (6 hours of low processor, no backlight use) with my 145b.
I will say this..it was new and in the box. It would not take a charge
at all at first. It would kill the computer when inserted. I used a
bench supply to zap it (10 amps applied briefly). Then it worked
normally in the computer.
