That's handy. Well some may recall my griping about CD-R and the non-4.3 SCSI manager on the 1400 a few months ago; with the 5.2.2 toast Platinum I can mount data CDs now with the drive (this was a new thing for me, 5.0.1 would not let the CD mount on the MacOS desktop, although I could copy pieces from within Toast) in addition to authoring (authoring at 1X of course) but audio CDs are still a no-go- can't play them in MacOS, can't copy tracks in Toast, although if I do a Toast disk info I see the tracks. Kinda defeats the purpose of the dedicated external SCSI drive (a more robust slimline CD enclosure for the 1400 that can go in my briefcase or whereever). The internal one is pretty fragile. I've been meaning to get back in touch with FWB and send them the drive (external SCSI Ricoh -RW) as it's not yet on their list of supported drives, and if I send it in they said (a few months ago) they'd add support and give me a free copy of the CD tools, which would let me access audio I think, even from in Toast (have to check on that). But at the time they were moving and suggested I wait a bit before sending my drive in, and I've not got back to it yet. FWIW. The 5.2.2 toast might be worth a try, for the original poster (who IIRC had both a 3rd party CD-ROm and a 3rd party CD-R drive). Brian -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
