Thanks to everyone who responded to my late night cry
of anguish over my power adapter. No, the computer
wasn't plugged in when the little dickens got to it.
Puupy is a pick pocket, gotta watch 'im or he will get
things out of coat pockets and purses. The gear bag
was sitting on the floor, he stuck his head in and
grabbed it, and crawled under a table with it. All it
took was a few good bites. One more bite and the plug
would have come off completely. What's so funny is
that of ALL the things in the gear bag, he chose THAT
specific item.

Once a long time ago I had a pet rabbit who was box
trained, so he was allowed to hop around the house at
will until one day we came home to find him laying on
his side under the piano bench, panting and shaken,
some plugged-in cords nearby showing nibble marks. Hot
pepper and alum did nothing to discourage him, so his
days of free roaming were over. What I could never
figure out was why he kept doing it, as if he liked
being shocked.

I need to read over all the IR related posts, because
my guess is you've already covered my issues, but
here's where I am with the IR situation. I have the
5300 and I have a 6500 desktop. They both run 8.6 I
have a Farallon IRdock, but I was never able to get
the 6500 to recognize it. About six months ago I got
frustrated and threw all the IR stuff in a box, where
it sat until just yesterday. The Farallon
documentation that came with the dock was only
minimally helpful. I can't find any documentation
online. I don't know why the 6500 won't see the dock.

Okay, let me see if I understand the gist of things:
the 5300 uses IRtalk, while most things use IRDA. So
the 5300 will not be able to IR with other things
unless they support IRtalk. Would we be able to IR
between a 5300 and a 1400?
