Of course I do! And he is very cute. I'll put together a puppy page (didn't I just read on the MacAddict site about some kind of pet page contest going on?) > Just to make sure, you aren't trying to use that IR > window on the > front of the 6500, are you? If I can't get it all working, I probably won't go to that kind of trouble. It might sound silly, but the > number of people who > mistake this port for an IRTalk or IrDA port is > really quite large. I'm not surprised. I've worked in several school computer labs (university) and I did 1st and 2nd level desktop support in a corporate environment(for PeeCees) so I know what kinds of silly notions people get about computer equip. (The > Farallon-provided software > only works with MacTCP, so if you are running a > newer Mac OS and > OpenTransport on the 6500, you can't use it anyway). A newer OS? How new is too new? The Farallon docs say "System 7.0 or later and an IR equipped PB such as the 5000" We use 8.6 for the usb support (so I can use a trackball instead of a mouse mainly) and because we still use serial peripherals. I really don't want to move up to 9 anytime soon. I don't want to have to replace my laser printer yet. We used 7.5 for a very long time. The 6500 came with 7.1 installed. > Plug the > infrared transceiver into the printer or modem port > of the 6500. The Farallon dock has a passthru adb AND a serial. > Of course, that's just assuming that the AirDock > doesn't need drivers It came with "AirPath" software, which as far as I can tell is just the IRtalk for computers that didn't already have it. > There's speculation that the hardware can do IrDA, > but Apple never > wrote the driver for it.
