There was a LEM article a while back that claimed slightly better 
performance if VM was set at some multiple of 32, the idea being that 
the Mac OS snatches HD or VM space at multiples of 32(kb?).

Don't have the slightest idea if that's true, or if you'd notice a 
difference. Those of us with tiny hard drives would of course never do 
this, no matter how much better it ran. I'm sure saving money for RAM 
and a faster HD is a much better alternative for any Mac that's more 
than a trailer queen.
