I had mine rebuilt by a local outfit called "Battery Boys" here in Saskatoon. Cost me $125.00 CDN I think. The results were comparable to buying a new one which was over $200.00. The 1400 battery is a Nicad I believe so I was told it was just a matter of replacing the battery cells. The replacement of the batteries includes some specialized spot welding which precludes you taking a kitchen knife and prying open the battery enclosure and doing it yourself.
