If you aren't using Appletalk much for other things, getting it set up can be confusing.
What error do you get, if any? Easiest way to hook up your MP- turn off Appletalk in the chooser on the 3400 (to make sure the serial port is "free"). Sometimes you still have to set it to a different port via the control panel, too, but not often. Run Newton Connection Utilities (connection "kit" is for older Newton models and won't work with the 130). Preferences-- set to "serial" not to appletalk. Make sure NCU is running on the powerbook, Hit the dock on the Newton, select to connect via Serial not Appletalk, select connect on the Newton, you should be hooked up. You can also get it going by Appletalk, but serial is easier sometimes if you haven't used Appletalk much in the past- there are a couple things to configure for Appletalk in general, it's not hard though.
