Actually, the Scots came to Ireland in the reign of Elizabeth I, some several-odd years before Cromwell. It was referred to as the Scottish Settlement of Ulster when Elizabeth gave land to Scottish settlers at the expense of the local inhabitants in order to take control of the rebellious province. Just for the record, of course.
