the 20 gig IBM drive I stuck in is half the thickness of the original 2.0 gig I replaced. All screws and mounting hardware fit perfectly. The operation was simple and took only about 10 minutes. It helps to have a second person to help hold the machine while you work. And to hold the towel over the screen so you don't scratch it accidentally. And I agree on the small fingers part, the cable on the drive doesn't offer much room for the operation. The hardest part of my install was getting the on/off key back on (I accidentally popped it off when prying up the keyboard). My wife found directions on the web that were great.
