if you can start up AT ALL put the preference folder out on the desktop and restart, if that works manually one buy one put back the prefs not in use, trash apple menu prefs, finder prefs,appswitch prefs ,appletalk prefs,extension manager prefs ,aslm prefs finder prefs ,macos prefs,systemprefs and redo the settings.
