First, that's pretty good out of an old battery.

The canonical 500 series battery rejuvenation dance goes like this:

Run IBR
Run Emmpathy
Run Battery Amnesia

(repeat 3-4X)

After that you'll likely get a decent life out of the things, if life is 
still to be had.

After that series I got 2-2 1/2 hours out of a battery, disk spun down. 
With normal use I'll get an hour and a half to two out of one battery, 
meaning I'll get three to four out of batteries in both bays.

The person I know who had my Powerbook when it was new says he never got 
a whole lot more even when it was new.

When Apple advertized a full work day out of the batteries in the PB 
500, they were either smoking stuff or working rather short days...;-)
