Just another case of Apple overprotecting itself. The PRAM module is user replaceable by anyone who is careful. The Apple part number is: "Backup Battery, 922-2429". The replacements that I picked up for my 1400s didn't have any numbers on them, but they matched those at: http://www.ebatts.com/product.asp?part=B-4251&Model=1239061&Manufacturer=25&use=7.2%20Volt%20NiMH%20%20Battery
