Jason,

Speed Doubler: you'll need Speed Doubler 8 (specifically, version 8.1.2) to run on
MacOS8.x.

I'm running SD 8 with MacOS 8.1 on my 5300cs, and it runs fine. There's a noticable
difference running with and without SD 8. I'd guess that a lot of the Finder code is
still 68k in 8.1, because Finder operations are faster using SD 8.

Check ebay or post a WTB on the Swap List to find a copy. There are 6 listing on ebay
right now for SD 8.

Did your PB 5300cs come with 16 MB on the motherboard (16 m-board + 32 module = 48
Total)? I thought all the 5300cs models only had 8 MB on the motherboard (which, when
adding a 32 MB card, would give you 40 MB, not 48 MB)?

Regards,

I just installed a 32M RAM module into my 5300cs (had a 16M module before) and wanted
to do some more stuff to it.

I currently have OS 7.6.1 on it. I have OS 8 (and the 8.1 updater), but was wondering
if it would be wise to update. The machine currently has 48M in it, with the stock
770M HD. Pretty much all I use it for is Office
98, and a few games.

Also, I have Speed Doubler 1.32 (?) on it now. If I upgraded to 8, would this program
still work, or would I have to find a newer version? It made a noticeable difference
with 7.6.1.
