Hi Y'all, I just got a SCSI disk mode cable, and thought it might be cool to be able to add my pb 1400 to the end of the SCSI chain on my desktop and just swap and sync files that way instead of the old fashioned way of zip disk swapping.
Everything appears to be OK; the SCSI ID number appears on the pb screen at startup, everything on the SCSI chain works and appears on the G4 desktop, but the pb hard drive won't appear on the desktop. I ran the apple system profiler; devices and volumes; and the pb does indeed appear in the profiler; but it says the pb hard drive is "unmounted." Well, I could have concluded that. So, the SCSI chain recognizes the device at the end, but it won't mount it, and I haven't a clue how to make it mount. A couple of notes: I am running sys 9.2.2 on my g4 dual processor 1 ghz, and I have terminators where they are supposed to be, there are no ID conflicts or anything like that. I did have a problem the first time I tried to do this, the g4 froze during startup, and since it froze right after the palm icon appeared on the screen, I thought that maybe the SCSI probe extension might be the problem, so I put it in the disabled extensions for the next startup, and sure enough everything started up as supposed to that time. But, I still haven't got it to show up on the desktop. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated. Sid B -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
