A few weeks ago, I installed version 7.2 of the Orinoco/WaveLan drivers in a friend's PB 1400c, running Mac OS 8.6 in Spanish.
It didn't work. It reported that either the driver was not loaded or there was not a card installed.
I thought that maybe the Spanish version of the OS was the culprit, but could not change that, so we reverted to v3x, that worked with the known limitations it has.
So when Bruce Johnson posted the e-address for older versions, I immediately d/l'ed ALL of them, to try again.
What I found was this "Known Issues":
"An incompatibility was found where older model PowerBooks cannot load the driver. These systems include the 1400, 2400, 3400, and 5300 models. We have not dropped support for these systems and expect to correct this situation in the next seasonal release."
It looks like both v7 (1 & 2), do not work on the 1400, but I'm happy to report that the latest v6 (I think is 6.04 or so) DID work as planned.
It mounts and recognizes the card, and the Control Strip Module works like a charm.
So my question would be: Has anyone else had problems with the PB 1400, OS 8.6 and v7.x combination?
