Fellow listers, I bought a 3400 on eBay that was advertised as unable to charge or run off its a/c adapter. Thinking I could fix it I reset the power manager, pram, checked pram voltage, swapped every component, both batts, everything but the motherboard, so that is where the problem is.
The symptoms are weird: the control strip shows correctly the a/c adapter being there or not. The main batt will deplete as if the a/c adapter is not there, even though it shows it is. Pulling the main batt while a/c is connected causes the screen to go blank and the speakers squeal. So.... since there is a broken main board component, where is it exactly that I can test? I have tested the a/c connector on the logic board with a VOM meter and it looks OK. In summary I need to test continuity where power goes from the a/c to the battery. The software does detect the charger is plugged in so that circuit is OK. Wish I had a schematic. -Phil- -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
