>>For the life of me I can't seem to find 1750 mAh cells that
Panasonic or Sanyo built for Apple. As I can only find 2000 mAh or
2200 mAh my question is - do I have to replace all 8 cells or can I
replace just the dead/shorted ones. Will the EMM somehow know that some
of the cells have higher capacity and compensate for that? <<

Yup. Replace them all. The 1750 cells won't like being charged like
the others. The EMM won't have any idea about the capacities, and won't
compensate.

Besides, what you're thinking of doing is like repairing an old pair of
pants with new material. Bad mismatch.

The old cells are likely on their way out of this world. All your work
will come back to you when the old cells fail and the new ones don't
seem to work any longer. Replace them all.
