next week i'll be testing an ide to scsi converter that should allow me to use a cheap and large ide drive in my duo that normally needs a scsi drive. they're 2.5-3.5mm thick (i'll have to check mine to be sure) and should allow the use of nearly any of the ide laptop drives in a scsi powerbook as they can use 17-19" drives and the newer ide drives are much thinner. i'm wondering, if it pans out, how many on the list would be interested in such an adapter for say $25? i can get them cheaper in quantity and make a few $$ (i'm basically disabled but still fighting to get on disability) so i'd love to help fellow listers and make a small profit if this works out. obviously i wouldn't take any orders until i had tested it for a few days to make sure it handles sleep and everything and doesn't cause any other problems. if it works, i'll also be seeing if i can get one designed for 3.5" drives or how hard they'd be to adapt (shouldn't be too hard, i am a hardware hacker). if interested, let me know off list and i'll tell you how it turns out and when i might be able to get more, my supplier is importing them in bulk so i'll have to ask him about his supply if things turn out but i've heard good things. thanks. also, i'd like to apologize to any one other than craig on the swap list that was offended by my earlier postings. -- Philip Stortz -- To be nobody but yourself when the whole world is trying its best night and day to make you everybody else is to fight the hardest battle any human being will ever fight. -- E.E.
