I know that a newer 'book will almost always beat an older one. I was
referring to things like you said, that Word opens a little faster, etc.
Did you notice an improvement on screen redraws, or in how fast a Web
page loads? Would the 466 1400 be a little faster than your 233 WS?

Actually the Wallstreet is better at screen redraws, too - much better video card. I used the 1400 daily for about eight months on my home network, but I have come to like the bigger screens of the later models. As a point of reference, the Sonnett 400 and 466 actually get that speed from what they call bus-doubling, since the G3 is supposed to be limited to 10x the bus speed. That would make the max a 333 in the 1400. The 466 is no way twice the speed of a Wallstreet.
