I've used a NewerTech FW2Go card in a 3400, where it worked just fine.

OWC sells a Mac-compatible Century-brand FW cardbus card. At under US$28 
that's the one I'd try. They don't mention 3400 in their copy but if Mac 
drivers exist it _ought_ to work.
