I have one of these PC Card modems, 33.6K made by Viking Peripherals, that I've been trying to make work properly in my 3400's PCMCIA slot. Unfortunately, although Viking's website lists it as Mac-compatible, there's no link to the drivers that apparently once existed for it.
I've tried some of the other modem types in OS 9.1, and some of them get it going at 31.2 or 33.6K, but not for long before dropping the connection. The only one that works is "Generic PC Card Modem", which provides a stable connection...at about 15K. Anyone have the Mac driver for this thing, or experience with making it work properly some other way? I have a 33.6 serial modem that works fine with the 3400, but I'd sure rather use the PCMCIA one if possible. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
