I think Ive managed to damage the Additional RAM connector to the upgraded (PowerPC)daughterboard on a 540. The machine will now only "see" 4mb plus 4mb onboard and doesnt recognise either a 12mb or a 32 mb RAM unit which Ive tried to use. Consequently we cannot use OS 8 and have had to downgrade to OS 7.5 to keep a ssystem working Presumably this is a permanent fault ?and I was wondering as the upgraded processor is apparently on the daughterboard ?whether it can be taken off and put on a spare, non upgraded daughterboard that actually works?( the old original one!) Any ideas would be very welcomed - was an expensive experiment! (despite the fact that we effectively got the daughterboard free it had to be shipped round the globe!)

If the connector itself is flawd, just replace it with a connector from another daughtercard. Assuming you solder.
