"Emulate" a tappable trackpad?

Isn't that a standard feature?

I know my PowerBook 190cs's trackpad is tappable. Thats pretty much the
same thing as a 5300 but with a 68k processor.

No, it's not.

The 5300 doesn't have a tappable trackpad. Don't ask why - just chalk it up to Apple screwing with a good design. (Actually, I suspect it's that the 190's design was finalized _AFTER_ the 5300's.)

The are interchangeable, however. I'm going to add a Q&A about this in the Input Devices section of the 5300 FAQ. Of course, it's not done yet...

Peace,
Drew
