Ok this is friggen retarded. I went crazy today at my 3400. For the last while its been haivng a strange problem where it randomly shuts off if I apply pressure to the case, by tapping it or shaking it or resting my palms on the palmrest or typing or using it or touching the case in anyway would cause the thing to go berserk.
Its even more maddening because today my new power management board arrived, I installed it, and that doesnt appear to be what the problem was. So i stripped down the 3400 COMPLETELY to nothing. Just a motherboard, and the powermanagement board. I also pluged the detatched display into the motherboard. I booted it up with an external ADB keyboard. Of course, nothing seemed wrong. All the tapping shaking and jiggling in the world wouldnt shut it off in that setup. But obviously i cant just carry around a motherboard and an LCD display around with me in a bag. So WHAT in gods name could POSSIBLY be causing this to happen? If i put the battery in or out, it shuts itself off abruptly. If i put the expansion bay drive in or out, it shuts off. If i put pcmcia cars in or take them out, it shuts off. WHAT AN ANNOYING MACHINE i can't belive it im losing sleep over this thing I just cannot figure out why when the whole thing is put together in its case, it shuts off whenever i touch it.
