The post about video cd really piqued my interest. I read through the links, and found out that my DVD player will play vcd's. This really seems like a good option for us, since these would also be playable on our pb's.
I got confused, though, in the area that talks about making vcd's. I see that I can use my still-digital camera to create short mpeg-1 videos, and this can be hooked up to the pb. So for shooting anything new, I have a portable make-do solution until I can move up to a dv-cam. But specifically, I would be interested in taking old svhs tapes and duping them to vcd -- things like the ol wedding video. Some tapes I made of parties, etc. What kind of capture equipment do I need that can be hooked up to a pb? Or am I stuck needing something that only works on a desktop? I could always use one of the ol desktop systems. (I might need to, looks like I'd need to upgrade to Toast 5 Titanium to burn the mpeg-1 files to disk and I think that only runs under 9. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
