I've got one of those ALPS glidepoints too (ADB model), but I've never had any software for it--all I do is adjust the mousespeed in the control panel. I did notice that you do have to have it plugged in when you start the PB up, or it'll have terrible response time on the computer screen. (Same thing with a mouse plugged in late--and yes, I know--you should never hot plug those things with the computer.)
The ALPS unit also works well with the Apple IIGS, BTW.
