I've got one of those ALPS glidepoints too (ADB model), but I've never had
any
software for it--all I do is adjust the mousespeed in the control panel.
I did notice that you do have to have it plugged in when you start the PB
up, or it'll have terrible response time on the computer screen.  (Same
thing with a mouse plugged in late--and yes, I know--you should never hot
plug those things with the computer.)

The ALPS unit also works well with the Apple IIGS, BTW.  Nice little mouse
replacement for those of us who don't have enough uncluttered desk space
to move a mouse around.  :)
