Most are rechargeable 3.0 volt lithium batteries, NOT conventional, non-rechargeable lithium batteries. VL prefix ... very unusual, but available from the manufacturer, or from some battery specialty houses. IIRC, these are connected in series, such that 3.0 volts and 6.0 volts are simultaneously available from the assembly. The wired are attached using spot welding.
