I think it's going to depend on how pervasive WiFi gets in public places.

In a lot of businesses and offices, laptops won't (and don't) make a lot
of sense--changing the old tech CRT for an LCD display would free up a lot
more space for people, but portability for most offices just isn't an
issue.  Last stats I saw said that businesses still buy more computers
than people for personal use

WiFi and personal computing will change the home market tho.
