Hello DPrice:

My first suggestion is to take the 'Book into a dark area when the
screen fades out and see if the fluorescent backlight is still on.  As
the other respondent suggested, it could be a failing backlight, if the
screen is going dark and no light is seen emanating from the screen when
it is in a dark area.  If instead, the screen is still lit, that would
suggest that the problem has to do with the contrast of the screen.

In my experience, when the backlight is turned off with the machine on,
the screen becomes dark, and I'll wait until you reply to this before I
stick my power supply in my battery bay (Hee, Hee)
