That's interesting. I have this problem with my Umax S900 running OSX, but ONLY when I use the PCI 10/100 ethernet port. Occasionally, TCP/IP comes up as "self assigned" with a 169.x.x.x address. Setting an IP address manually doesn't fix it either. If I use the built-in ethernet port, I don't experience the problem. My router is setup for 50 users, and it only has 8 ports, so I can't be running out of addresses. Resetting the router has no effect, only rebooting the computer fixes it. Hmmm...
