Help!

I read somewhere you could slap a teac cd-rom laptop drive into the cd-rom
module housing for a Powerbook 1400, and therefore have a 24x CD-rom in a 1400!
Hurrah!

But I am having problems...

First of all, when starting the Powerbook, it hangs up for about 2 minutes
during startup, while loading the "About Apple Guide" Extension. Then, when the
desktop appears, the HD icon shows up, then it takes 3-5 MINUTES for all the
other desktop items (trash, control strip, etc.) to show up. AND even after ALL
OF THAT, the cd-rom does not mount.

When I slap in the original CD-rom that came w/ the 1400, everything mounts
and works fine.

I heard that FWB CD-Rom Toolkit *could* solve me problems... anyone have a
lead on how to get it? Anyone know some other solution to my problems?

Thanks...

Craig W.
