You're pretty much going to be limited to a SCSI CD-ROM. I use a PowerUser CD-ROM, which uses a Toshiba mechanism. I think it's a 4x unit tho it may only be a 1x. It works to load in software to my 520c, and I can use it to play music CD's--I did try it for playing a game once, but it and the 520c wasn't up to the response time.
